Ohanaeze Youths Stand with the Government Concerning Politicians Fueling Violence

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has issued a strong response to recent political statements, expressing support for Minister of State for Defence Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle’s criticism of former Minister Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. The youth organization took issue with Amaechi’s recent remarks at a national democracy conference, where he allegedly called for Nigerians to “fight” for power in the upcoming 2027 electoral cycle.

In their official statement, the Council emphasized the potentially destabilizing nature of such rhetoric, particularly praising Matawalle’s swift condemnation of these comments. The organization highlighted Amaechi’s political background, including his tenure as Rivers State governor and role in the previous administration, suggesting his current stance reflects personal political frustrations rather than genuine concern for democratic processes.

The statement reaffirmed the Igbo youth community’s commitment to national stability under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The Council’s National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, specifically called for accountability regarding statements that could incite violence, emphasizing that no individual should be exempt from responsibility for potentially destabilizing rhetoric. The organization concluded by urging Nigerian youth to reject divisive political messaging and maintain focus on national unity and progress.
